Their Story Information (you can copy and paste info) | Two Muscatine men were pronounced dead at the scene after the car they were in slammed into a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 early Sunday morning, according to authorities. According to the accident report from the Iowa State Patrol, Gregorio Javier Tapia, 20, of Muscatine, was driving his 2009 Toyota Scion east on I-80 at 4:35 a.m. Sunday when — for unknown reasons — it left the road and hit the semi-truck parked legally on the south shoulder of eastbound I-80 at mile marker 269 in Cedar County, just a couple miles from the Wilton exit. While the truck didn’t move, the Scion came to a rest blocking both lanes and facing south. Tapia and his passenger, Anthony Nunez, 19, of Muscatine, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing their seat belt, according to the report. |
