Trooper George Dee Rees & Lieutenant Thomas S. Rettberg both served their lives in the Utah Highway Patrol. Trooper George was killed in 1960 when his petrol vehicle was struck by a fleeing felon in a stolen car. He was 41 years old. Lieutenant Thomas died in the year 2000 when his helicopter malfunctioned and crashed. He joined the Utah Highway Patrol in 1975.
