It was Thursday afternoon when two unknown men lost their lives in a five-vehicle crash that happened on SR-70 in Desoto County. According to the police report, a car was traveling east on SR-70, and an SUV was traveling in front of it. The car moved into the westbound lane to pass the SUV and collided head-on with an SUV traveling west.
The westbound SUV was forced back into a semi-truck, which redirected it onto the north grass shoulder where it overturned onto its roof. The car came to rest facing east, straddling both lanes, and the semi-truck came to rest on the north shoulder.
The pickup truck was unable to stop fast enough and rear-ended the semi-truck. The drivers of the SUVs were pronounced deceased at the scene.
