Thomas Diener was just a 26-year-old firefighter when he was killed in a crash that happened on U.S. 30 just west of the U.S. 31 interchange in Plymouth.
According to the police report, Thomas was in a truck that was parked on the shoulder behind a disabled truck and a tow truck.
A semi-truck driven by a 47-year-old Maryland man hits the back of both trucks, throwing Thomas out of his truck.
He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The remaining two passengers and the driver of a tow truck were taken to the hospital for injuries.
